DAY 1 SKOPJE AIRPORT – SKOPJE CITY TOUR & NIGHTLIFE
Arrival at Skopje airport and meet and greet with the professional throughout guide, on the arrival gate. Transfer to Skopje, the capital of Macedonia. Upon arrival we’ll start with sightseeing tour. Firstly we’ll visit the hearth of the city, the Old Bazaar which is the second largest of its kind in the world. Lunch in local restaurant. Coming out of the bazaar and crossing the Stone Bridge, the walking tour continues through the Skopje city square and Macedonia Pedestrian Street, where we’ll visit Mother Theresa Memorial House, down to the Skopje City Museum where the tour will end. Accommodation in hotel for refreshment and dinner and night out on the after. Overnight in hotel in Skopje.
DAY 2 VODNO MOUNTAIN – ST. PANTELEIMON MONASTERY – MATKA CANYON
After breakfast we’ll head towards the top of Vodno Mountain, overlooking the city form the south. Reaching the top riding in cable cars. Upon arrival we’ll enjoy the beautiful view of the city during tea brake. We’ll head to St. Panteleimon Monastery recognized as the birthplace of European renaissance, situated on the
slopes of the mountain. Sightseeing of the Monastery with local lecturer. Tour continues 15 km west towards the Matka canyon known for its endemic species of flora and endemic butterfly colonies. Lunch in a restaurant with beautiful scenery by the lake, followed by boat ride and visit of Vrelo Cave, considered as one of the deepest caves in the world. Return to Skopje hotel afterwards, dinner and overnight.
DAY 3 TETOVO – MAVROVO NATIONAL PARK – GALICNIK VILLAGE – ST. JOVAN BIGORSKI MONASTERY – JANCE VILLAGE
After breakfast departure for Mavrovo National park. On the way we’ll make a short stop in Tetovo to visit the beautiful 14th century Mosque, remnant from the Ottoman Empire. Arrival in Mavrovo Ski center. At this point we have two possibilities to continue:1) If weather is sunny and the group is willing we can climb on the top of the ski center with chair lift and have an organized lunch into a mountain hut. From there we’ll continue our way to scenic Galicnik Village for lunch and sightseeing by bikes, together with professional bike guide (the path is considered as easy & plain). 2) If the weather is bad or the group is unwilling to go on bikes, we will head to Galicnik Village by van. After the lunch and the Galicnik Village visit we will continue towards one of the most spiritual monasteries in Macedonia - St Jovan Bigorski dating from 11th century, a place of miracles and interesting legends. We continue our way to the village of Jance afterwards. Accommodation in hotel, traditional dinner accompanied by a lecture for local plants & spices. Overnight
DAY 4 DUF WATERFALL – VEVCANI VILLAGE –– STRUGA – OHRID
Breakfast and transfer to Rostuse Village near by. Upon arrival we’ll start with an easy hike towards Duf Waterfall which lies hidden from the thirsty eyes. After the visit of this natural beauty, the tour continues to the village of Vevcani. Arrival in the village and visit of the beautiful natural park holding the local springs we’ll enjoy a traditional lunch afterwards. With our bellies full we continue our tour towards Struga, the second largest town on Ohird Lake. Short visit of the town of poetry. Continuing to Ohrid afterwards. Arrival, accommodation in hotel, dinner and overnight.
DAY 5 OHRID – BAY OF BONES – ST. NAUM MONASTERY - OHRID
This day is reserved for a full day of enjoyment into the UNESCO protected Ohrid Lake region. After the breakfast we’ll start with sightseeing of Ohrid old town. Going upwards onto the stone paved streets we’ll visit the St. Sophia cathedral, the Roman Theatre, the Church St. Mother of God and the icon gallery there. Continuing towards the top of the hill we’ll enter the mighty Samuel fortress and the St Clement church which is inside the Plaoshnik archeological complex. There we will enjoy the floor mosaics from the early Christian basilica`s and the first university in this part of Europe. Then follows the picturesque St. Jovan Kaneo church built on a cliff above the lake. Coming out from the old town, we’ll walk to the Ohrid Port to embark a ship going to St. Naum Monastery complex. On our way, we will visit the museum on the water – bay of the bones. Disembark at St Naum port. Here we’ll taste the local fish specialties for lunch. After lunch we’ll go on a boat ride on Drim River Springs and sightseeing of the monastery afterwards. As our energy is getting lower we’ll embark on the ship and return to Ohrid. After refreshing in hotel, the night will get even better while enjoying the Macedonian Folklore show during dinner! Overnight in Ohrid.
DAY 6 GALICICA NATIONAL PARK – ELSHANI VILLAGE - OHRID
Today we’ll have yet another national park to visit. After breakfast we’ll be heading to National Park Galicica. Arrival at Korita resting area from where we’ll start with easy hour or two hiking through the beautiful nature towards Elshani Village. Arrival at the village and greet our hosts. We’ll enjoy a homemade lunch and homemade drinks in their yard looking over the lake. Head back to Ohrid. Free afternoon. Dinner in hotel and overnight.
DAY 7 BITOLA – DIHOVO VILLAGE – PELISTER NATIONAL PARK
After breakfast today we’ll head to the second largest city in Macedonia, Bitola. After the arrival we’ll start with walking tour on the Sirok Sokak where you can enjoy the authentic city architecture and charm. We’ll head to Heraclea archeological site afterwards, famous for its dazzling mosaics, ancient theater and Roman baths that present the most vividly preserved city from the surviving Ancient Macedonian Empire in the country. Our next stop is the village of Dihovo where we’ll have lunch. After lunch we head to the third and last National Park in Macedonia, Pelister. Arrival, accommodation and dinner in hotel. Overnight.
DAY 8 PELISTER NATIONAL PARK – KRUSEVO
After the enjoyable breakfast on Baba Mountain (Pelister National Park) we meet with a local hiking guide and we start with hour or two of hiking. Before the hike we’ll visit the parks info center for introduction. While hiking in the woods we’ll see and learn about the endemic tree called Molika, found only on Baba Mountain. After the hike our tour continues to the highest town in Macedonia which is also one of the highest in Europe - Krusevo. With its unique architecture and tales from the past it stands as a landmark of the Macedonian struggle for freedom. Lunch in local restaurant in Krusevo. Sightseeing of the town. Accommodation in hotel, dinner and overnight.
DAY 9 MACEDONIA WINE REGION
After breakfast we head to Macedonia wine region where people have been producing finest quality wine for almost seven and a half millennia now. On the way we’ll stop for lunch in the city of Prilep. After lunch we’ll continue towards one of the wineries in the wine region. Arrival and accommodation there followed by wine tasting and wine production tour, accompanied with dinner. Overnight.
DAY 10 SKOPJE AIRPORT
After breakfast we’ll head to Airport Skopje for farewells and departure.
